Nikon D3000

The Nikon D3000 has been aimed more towards the beginners or entry level enthusiasts but this in no way should take away from the sheer quality of this nikon dslr. The Nikon D3000, with a 10.2 megapixel DX-format CCD APS-C image sensor, 11-point Autofocus system with 3D tracking and 18-55mm lens is nothing short of every thing a beginner could dream of. If you didn't understand some of the things stated in that last sentence then that should tell you this digital dslr is more than enough for you.

Since you are probably coming from the point and shoot class into the dslr class you are fairly familiar with the menu options. The Nikon D3000 has no shortage of options for you to play with and in return optimize your pictures.

Here is a list of shooting modes that the D3000 offers:

nikon shooting wheel
  • Night portrait: Simply shooting photographs of individuals at night.
  • Sports: Gives you a better chance of capturing that perfect moment with faster shutter speeds and continuous shooting
  • Close up: Allows the best setting for the super close photos whether its a bug or flower etc...
  • Child: This allows for a few things to happen, it picks up the skin tones of the individual and makes them appear softer and at the same time takes the background and makes that crisp.
  • Landscape: Provides multiple focus points through out the shot while allowing for vivid tones
  • Portrait: This setting allows for those magazine model shots where the skin tones are made to look soft and flawless and the background seems to be shallow and not of importance
  • Manual: In this selection you are given all privileges to the shutter and aperture speeds
  • Aperture-Priority Auto: You choose the aperture speed and the camera chooses shutter speed
  • Shutter-Priority Auto: Opposite of the last one you choose the shutter camera chooses aperture
  • Programmed Auto: Camera decides what the best settings will be in all cases
So over all what can we take from the digital Nikon D3000, Well its priced perfectly for what your getting. Although the megapixel resolution is only 10.2 don't let this scare you away from the great camera at hand. Odds are you aren't going to be blowing any pictures up to there max anyhow so this shouldn't even be a worry. It comes with all your basic slr functions and this will take you a very long time to get comfortable with. Over all I give this a thumbs up and recommend it to any novice out there to learn and grow from.
